Within the Bay Area, two areas stand out for travel nursing jobs: San Francisco and Oakland. Of course, these areas are quite close to one another, but they come with little nuances that make them excellent alternatives to one another.  

San Francisco

San Francisco is a great Bay Area location because of its high cost of living. Like mentioned above, San Francisco is one of the spots that everyone wants to live in, but not everyone can afford. Travel nurses, then, get an advantage if they land a position here for a few months or a year at most. They get to really immerse themselves in the city without having to worry about the immensely high cost of living as well as work for some of the top medical facilities in the area. Oakland

Oakland also sports a rather high pay rate being in Northern California and close to the San Francisco, Berkeley, and the Greater Bay area. As mentioned, it acts as an excellent alternative to San Francisco for those nurses unable to or unwilling to station themselves directly in San Francisco.
