Why the Bay Area is a Great Spot for Travel to Work

Something for everyone

The San Francisco Bay Area is a region in Northern California spanning the city of San Francisco and surrounding counties. North, the Sonoma and Napa valleys are renowned wine-producing regions with hundreds of hillside vineyards. Gourmet food is showcased in Oxbow Public Market in the city of Napa.

Best Hospitals and Healthcare Facilities in the Bay Area

Within the Bay Area, two areas stand out for travel nursing jobs: San Francisco and Oakland. Of course, these areas are quite close to one another, but they come with little nuances that make them excellent alternatives to one another.

San Francisco

San Francisco is a great Bay Area location because of its high cost of living. Like mentioned above, San Francisco is one of the spots that everyone wants to live in, but not everyone can afford. Travel nurses, then, get an advantage if they land a position here for a few months or a year at most. They get to really immerse themselves in the city without having to worry about the immensely high cost of living as well as work for some of the top medical facilities in the area. Some of these hospitals and medical centers include:

  • UCSF Medical Center: University of California San Francisco Medical Center is a highly coveted spot due to it being nationally ranked in 15 adult specialties and 10 pediatric specialties. It is a general medical and surgical facility and is scored highly in patient safety. Learn more here.
  • John Muir Health-Walnut Creek Medical Center: Located in Walnut Creek, John Muir is nationally ranked in 1 adult specialty and is high performing in 6 other adult specialties and 6 procedures/conditions. Oakland also sports a rather high pay rate being in Northern California and close to the San Francisco, Berkeley, and the Greater Bay area. As mentioned, it acts as an excellent alternative to San Francisco for those nurses unable to or unwilling to station themselves directly in San Francisco. Some of the best hospitals and medical centers here include:

  • UCF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland: Known as the largest pediatric specialty center for children in East Bay, this hospital is a prime spot for travel nursing jobs.
